Preparing for the trip
In two weeks, we get on the Allure of the Seas to embark on a 7-day cruise. For us, it has been three and a half years! Our plan was to take another cruise in late 2019 which would have been about 21 months from our previous cruise. As can sometimes happen, we had to post-pone until Spring of 2020. You know the rest of that story – scheduled, cancelled, rescheduled. It was much like washing your hair – lather, rinse, repeat!
We are so excited it is finally happening! We fly out on Saturday to meet with our kids and grandkids. Then we all get on another plane to head to Florida. Kind of a hotspot these days so we are going to get off the plane, go to our hotel and hide until Sunday morning. Then we’ll come out of hiding to head to the big boat!
We have already planned our evening meals, at least where we are going to eat. We have planned some on board fun, shows and activities for a few days and evenings. We have our Perfect Day at Coco Cay planned. It might sound very regimented but we have been thinking about this for a very long time.
With only two weeks left we are getting down to the last details like suitcases. Where did we put those? Clothing is a whole other story, but we are really close. Just ordered water shoes and no-show socks. Got a new suit coat for Dress-up night and I think my wife has at least 5 swimsuits and cover ups. I just don’t ask. We must get Covid tested within 3 days of debarkation. My wife got an order for a test from our doctor and my appointment with him is coming up and I’ll do the same. We have our documents in a folder – passports, vaccine record, airline information etc. The dogs are scheduled on Rover where I must say it was easy and the ‘getting to know you’ visit went swimmingly! Did I mention we are excited?
So, when is your next cruise? How do you plan? Do you have any special items you make sure to take?
See you shipside
